Senate Republicans: No Pay for Special Session

From the AP:

All Republicans in the state Senate are promising to give up their compensation for a special session to reconsider the General Fund budget, and they are challenging Senate Democrats to do the same.

"It would be irresponsible to ask the public to pay again for work we did not finish when we had the chance," Senate Minority Leader Jabo Waggoner, R-Vestavia Hills, said Wednesday...

Waggoner acknowledges that forfeiting the pay is an attempt to build good will with voters going into next year's legislative elections, but he said it's also "the right thing to do."

The Republican pledge would add up to a hefty sum of $60 per day per Senator.
