Krugman: "In the Auto Industry, the Good Jobs are Heading North"
Paul Krugman, the bearded lady of the New York Times, also came pretty darned close to saying that the reason that the auto industry is headed north (????) is that Alabamians (and Southerners in general, for that matter) are ignorant and uneducated. Luckily, the Krugman Truth Squad at NRO was on the case.
The most obvious question to ask Mr. Krugman is, "what planet have you been living on for the last 10 years?" Since 1994, Mercedes, Honda, Toyota, and Hyundai have built plants in Alabama, creating thousands of jobs. The idea that "the good jobs are heading north" is plainly absurd, as anyone who has stepped foot in the state recently would know. Even the Anniston (Red) Star, one of Alabama's most liberal newspapers, upbraided Mr. Krugman for failing to check his facts more carefully.
I just hope all this attention doesn't encourage Mr. Krugman to travel to Alabama to see things firsthand. I mean...even Southern hospitality has its limits.
