On this day:

Who's on tap to replace Bud?

Doc's Political Parlor has a list of possible contenders to replace Bud Cramer in the U.S. Congress. So far, only Huntsville attorney Ray McKee, a Republican, has actually announced his intention to run.

Madison County Commissioner and former state legislator Mo Brooks is the guy who immediately jumped to my mind. I endorsed him for Lieutenant Governor in the 2006 Republican primary, and I think that his brand of fiscally-responsible, limited-government, no-nonsense conservatism would serve the district well in Washington. Here's an Alabama Public Television interview with Brooks from May, 2006. (The interview begins at approximately 5:50 into the piece. Watch till the end...it gets better.)
