Alabama universitites step in with hurricane relief

According to the Crimson White, the University of Alabama has set up a Student Hurricane Assistance Center to help UA students from areas hit by Katrina. It will also be offering "temporary 'expedited admission' to students whose universities have been closed indefinitely because of severe damage from the hurricane."

The Univerisity of South Alabama in Mobile is offering similar accomodations: "In response to numerous calls from students enrolled at colleges and universities that have closed due to Hurricane Katrina, the University of South Alabama will offer a special advising and registration session in an effort to accommodate their course needs this semester."
