On this day:

Cheney

Dick Cheney takes the cake as my favorite political figure in the federal government today.

Cheney was born in Lincoln, Nebraska and grew up in Caspar, Wyoming. He went to Yale for awhile, but didn't do very well there, so moved back to Wyoming and decided to complete his education there. He went on to get his master's degree in Political Science from the University of Wyoming. The evidence suggests to me that his decision to go back to Wyoming ended up being much more valuable to him and to his country than if he would have stayed the course at Yale.

Once back in Wyoming, he went on to marry his high school sweetheart, Lynne. Lynne Cheney is equally as impressive as her husband in both intellect and eloquence. Her influence on the Vice President is unquestionable, but the Cheneys, unlike other political famililes, choose not to parade their political relationship publicly.

When you look at Dick Cheney, what you see is what you get. He may not have the best-coiffed hair or the most professionally-manicured nails of the candidates on the campaign trail, but he's real, he's a good man, and he has served our President and our country admirably.
