On this day:

More Siegelman (D.-Tuscaloosa)

Alice Martin, one of the U.S. Attorneys prosecuting the Siegelman (D.-Tuscaloosa) case, has a beef with the judge. She released a statement following Judge Clemon's dismissal of the case saying: "We are disappointed in Judge Clemon's rulings. His refusal to rule on the motion to suppress before the jury was seated denied the government its right to appeal (such a ruling) ... denied the citizens their right to a fair trial and necessitated our move to dismiss the charges. In our view, the evidence that the jury was not permitted to hear was more than sufficient for the case to go to verdict."
