Blast From the Past

Charile Graddick, the former Alabama Attorney General and candidate for both Lieutenant Governor and Governor, has been elected to a circuit court judgeship in Mobile County. Graddick was a Democratic candidate for Governor in 1986, losing to Bill Baxley in a controversial and bitterly disputed primary. The controversy surrounding the Democratic primary that year resulted in the election of Alabama's first Republican Governor since Reconstruction, Guy Hunt. Shortly after that primary, Graddick switched parties to become a Republican.
