On this day:

Football fans asked to help out

The following is from an e-mail I received today from the University of Alabama's Capstone Engineering Society:
Our hearts and prayers are going out to those of you who are impacted by Hurricane Katrina. Tuscaloosa is still taking in those who've been displaced, so if you need relief information please let me know and I'll be happy to get you to our information centers.

Speaking of those who've been displaced, the University is asking that if you have hotel reservations for the game this weekend, to please give those up in favor of the relief workers and refugees from the coast. We now have about 600 people camping out in the University Recreation Center, so any spaces that can be made available in hotels will be appreciated. It is my understanding that donation centers are being set up close to the stadium, in case you want to contribute to the relief effort.

The University will be collecting donations for the American Red Cross at Bryant-Denny stadium prior to kickoff at this Saturday's game.
