Alabama Legislature Considers Fetal Homicide Bill

A bill making it a crime to kill or assault a fetus is making its way through the Alabama legislature, and wouldn't you know it? Some abortion rights supporters are "bothered" by it.
Existing law defines criminal homicide as "intentionally, knowingly, recklessly or with criminal negligence" causing the death of another person, with "person" being defined as being "born and alive at the time of the homicidal act."

[The] bill would change that definition to include "an unborn child at every stage of gestation in utero from conception to birth, regardless of viability."
